The License to Operate a Forklift Truck course offers the skills required to safely operate a forklift truck. Students will learn to plan the forklift work, conduction regular checks on forklifts, shift loads safely. This course teaches students to shut down the forklift properly, ensuring that the equipment has been secured after operations are completed. When planning forklift work, this course teaches students to identify potential hazards, use hazard control measures and inspect the area to choose the safest path of movement.
Students taking this course will learn to visually check forklifts for defects or damage, and they will be instructed on how to ensure that labels and signage are legible and visible. They’ll learn to carry out important operational checks before starting the forklift, as well as how to start the forklift according to operational procedures. This course also offers essential knowledge on testing forklift safety devices and functions, as well as how to appropriately report any damage and defects. Individuals taking the License to Operate a Forklift Truck will be instructed on how to shift loads, which includes taking appropriate control and hazard prevention measures. They’ll learn to operate a forklift according to important procedures while moving at a safe speed.
Participants that successfully complete the License to Operate a Forklift Truck course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment in License to Operate a Forklift Truck, which is nationally recognised. Individuals completing this course will also be provided with a WorkCover NSW Notice of Satisfactory Assessment. This NSA that is provided is only valid for 60 days.
After students have completed the License to Operate a Forklift Truck course, they will have important skills that are required on the job, including how to conduct forklift operations safely at the maximum load capacity and height capacity. Other essential skills students will have after taking this course include safe operating techniques for forklifts, the ability to discover and verify equipment faults and problems with a forklift, and how to identify potential hazards that are associated with operating a forklift truck.
